Transcript: Mayor Adams Calls In Live To Waok’s “Keepin’ It Real With Rev. Al Sharpton

October 4, 2023

Reverend Al Sharpton: Keepin' it real. Keepin' it real, I'm your host Reverend Al Sharpton. They're telling me to go right to the phone, another surprise caller guest. Let's go to the phone. Hello?

Mayor Eric Adams: My brother, my brother. You know, happy birthday. I'm sure it's Libra…

Al Sharpton: Yep, that's right.

Mayor Adams: You balance shit out and it's unbelievable sometimes when I sit back and think about this journey that we have taken and how much we've just been a part of each other's life. And we have been blessed, and you know every time we celebrate another birthday you have to just, you know, think about the people who've been around you.

And look at you, man. You are as energetic, and probably more energetic than you were when you were a younger man. You know, you're up early, you're on a treadmill, you know, you're solid with your diet. And you just engage in international affairs. You know, God has done you well.

You deposited into the social bank of life and you're able to withdraw on the equity by having two beautiful children. Happy birthday to just my long time friend.

Sharpton: The one and only Eric Adams, our mayor in the City of New York. And we go way back, like he said, 35 years. This is a real surprise, and you've been a special in my life. And love you for calling in and holding on. Believe that and know that. Love you. Thank you so much for calling in.

Mayor Adams: Thank you. Happy birthday to you.

Sharpton: That is the mayor of New York, the one and only Eric Adams.
