Mayor Adams Announces City Hall, Other City Buildings to be lit Orange to Mark Gun Violence Awareness Day

NEW YORK – New York City Mayor Eric Adams today announced that City Hall and other municipal buildings will be lit orange today through the weekend to mark Gun Violence Awareness Day. Gun Violence Awareness Day — within Gun Violence Awareness Month — provides a somber moment to pay tribute to the countless lives lost to gun violence in New York City and across the U.S., and advance meaningful policy solutions.

“There have been more mass shootings in the U.S. this year than there have been days, yet too many of our leaders are still unwilling to do what needs to be done to get this epidemic under control. Addressing the crisis of gun violence here and throughout our country begins with awareness,” said Mayor Adams. “As we recognize Gun Violence Awareness Day and Month, we must be focused on damming the many rivers that feed the sea of violence, by prioritizing intervention and prevention. We grieve with every family who has lost a loved one to gun violence and remain committed to taking action, so we can finally end the senseless bloodshed that has claimed too many lives.”

In addition to City Hall, the following municipal buildings will be lit up orange:

• Bronx Borough Hall: 851 Grand Concourse, Bronx, NY 10451
• The David N. Dinkins Manhattan Municipal Building: 1 Centre Street, New York, NY 10007
• Queens Borough Hall: 120-55 Queens Boulevard, Queens, NY 11424
• Staten Island Borough Hall: 10 Richmond Terrace, Staten Island, NY 10301
