Transcript: Mayor Adams Hosts Reception Celebrating Mid-Autumn Moon Festival

September 25, 2025

Mayor Eric Adams: Thank you so much for being here. I think this is our last heritage event I believe for the year and what's a better way to do it, than a Mid-Autumn Festival? Because what does it mean and what does it symbolize?

It symbolizes an opportunity after working in the fields throughout the year, this is our opportunity to have a good harvest. It's our opportunity to celebrate with our families. It's an opportunity to acknowledge what is important for us not only as New Yorkers but in our various ethnic, cultural, and community groups.

No one I believe better personifies the spirit of family, the spirit of celebrating a good harvest, than the Asian community here in the city and across the globe. So, I want to thank you for what you do for New York.

You believe in faith, you believe in family, you believe in public safety, you believe in providing our city a way to raise healthy children and families. And we cannot do it without safety. Every time we have these heritage events I think it's important to acknowledge the men and women of the New York City Police Department and our other law enforcement communities. Please give them a hand.

The Asian Jade Society and NYPD represent your community, and they do it in a way that you should all be proud of. And so, as we move to another year of planting, let us stay committed, let us stay focused, and let's lift up those who have done great work in our community. And today we have four honorees, and I'm going to ask you to give them your attention as we give them their flowers while they're still able to smell them.

So again, I thank you so much for coming here and gracing us with your presence here at Gracie Mansion. Happy Mid-Autumn Festival. Thank you very much.
