This six-week program prepares and places New Yorkers in cable installation jobs

Overview

New Yorkers can get training for a new career in cable installation, with work after they finish the program. The program preps students with the skills they need for work as a cable technician. It also helps grads find a job within a network of NYC employers.


Eligibility

To take part, you should be

  • in New York City for at least 6 months
  • legally eligible to work in the US
  • 18 years or older
  • unemployed, low-income, or receiving public assistance
  • able to pass a drug test
  • able to lift 50 pounds
  • able to tell the difference between different colored wires
  • ready to take a reading and math test and score at or above the 8th-grade level (some tips to help you prepare)
  • able to attend class Monday through Friday, 8:30 am–5:00 pm in Downtown Brooklyn for six weeks
  • comfortable with heights and crawl spaces
