Climate & Manufacturing Workforce Development Panel

The Climate and Manufacturing Workforce Development Panel will explore how the transition to a more sustainable economy is creating new opportunities for workers, employers, and workforce development organizations. The discussion will focus on the skills, training, career pathways, and partnerships needed to prepare New Yorkers for careers in clean energy, advanced manufacturing, green construction, and other emerging industries. Panelists will discuss:

• Emerging career opportunities in climate, clean energy, and advanced manufacturing.
• In-demand skills and credentials employers are seeking and how workforce programs can better prepare job seekers.
• Career pathways that connect training and education to entry-level, middle-skill, and advancement opportunities.
• Employer partnerships that ensure training aligns with real-time hiring needs.
• Equitable access to opportunity, particularly for communities that have historically experienced barriers to employment.
• Apprenticeships, internships, and work-based learning as pathways into manufacturing and climate-related careers.
• Upskilling and career advancement for workers transitioning into new technologies and evolving industries.
• Collaboration among employers, government, educational institutions, and community-based organizations to build a strong climate and manufacturing workforce pipeline.

Panel Objective: To identify practical strategies for connecting New Yorkers to emerging climate and manufacturing careers while helping employers build a skilled, diverse, and job-ready workforce.
