NOTE: THE TAX COMMISSION HAS ADOPTED A RULE IMPOSING A $175 FEE ON APPLICATIONS FOR CORRECTION WHERE THE ASSESSED VALUE ON THE NOTICE OF PROPERTY VALUE FOR 2023/24 IS $2 MILLION OR MORE. IF MULTIPLE CONDOMINIUM UNITS FILE ON A SINGLE APPLICATION, THE FEE WILL APPLY IF THE AGGREGATE ASSESSED VALUE IS $2 MILLION OR MORE. NO FEE IS DUE IF THE APPLICANT OR REPRESENTATIVE WAIVES REVIEW OF THE APPLICATION BEFORE IT IS SCHEDULED FOR REVIEW. IF ANY FEE IS UNPAID, REVIEW OF YOUR APPLICATION MAY BE DENIED AND ANY OFFER OF CORRECTION REVOKED. THE FEE WILL BE INCLUDED ON THE REAL PROPERTY TAX BILL ISSUED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE. The Tax Commission is an independent agency authorized to correct the tax class, assessed value, or exemption of your property. Read your Department of Finance Annual Notice of Property Value. See page 3 of Finance's Notice of Value to determine if you should file an application with the Tax Commission. THE TAX COMMISSION WILL ACCEPT APPLICATIONS FOR CORRECTION FOR PROPERTIES IN TAX CLASSES 2, 3 AND 4 RECEIVED BY 5 PM MARCH 01, 2023. APPLICATIONS FOR CORRECTION FOR PROPERTIES IN TAX CLASS 1 WILL BE ACCEPTED IF RECEIVED BY 5 PM MARCH 15, 2023. All applicants are strongly advised to read Form TC600 "How to Appeal a Tentative Assessment" before starting an application.
Visit the NYC Department of Finance to request an update of Property Data. Use Finance's update form to ask Finance to correct descriptive information about your property, which is printed on your Notice of Property Value. A request for Finance to review your property description does not substitute for a timely application to the Tax Commission.
