Registered Representatives

OATH hearings do not require a lawyer or representative. Anyone may represent his or her self at all OATH hearings. OATH does not certify or screen representatives. If you hire someone to represent you at your hearing, you do so at your own expense and risk.

Avoid Scams! Please note that all emails that come from OATH have the email address of @oath.nyc.gov. Any other communications that come from other email addresses like ones that have a gmail.com or other commercial email address are not from OATH and should not be considered a communication from OATH. Due to the pandemic, in person registration is not available.

If you need to renew your representative registration, please complete and sign the 2024 Registered Representation Form and email the signed form with a copy of a state issued photo ID to repregistration@oath.nyc.gov

The deadline to register for calendar year 2023 has been extended to March 1, 2023.

On August 7, 2016, a New York City Rule governing representatives at OATH went into effect.* View the informational flyer for registered representatives appearing in 2018.

• Representatives who represent more than 1 respondent per calendar year must register annually with the OATH Hearings Division.
• Representatives must register in person and present current, valid, photo identification.
• Representatives can get the Representative Registration Form here or in person from an OATH Clerk at any OATH Hearing Center location.
• Registered Representatives will also have to submit an authorization form from each respondent that he/she represents.
• When filing notices of appearance for an in-person hearing or when submitting motions in person, including, but not limited to, reschedule requests and motions to vacate a default, Registered Representatives must provide valid government-issued photo identification acceptable to the Tribunal.
• Authorization Forms are available in several languages. Representatives and respondents should use the Authorization form that is in the respondent's preferred language.
