FDNY Holds Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for EMS Station 26 In The Bronx

Fire Commissioner Daniel A. Nigro will celebrate the opening of the newly renovated EMS Station 26 with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, December 23rd, - 11 a.m. at 1264 Boston Road. EMS Station 26 serves Morrisania and the surrounding communities in the Bronx.

“EMS Station 26 is a beacon of the community and the men and women assigned there take tremendous pride in providing outstanding emergency medical care to the residents of the Bronx,” said Fire Commissioner Daniel A. Nigro. “Thanks to the FDNY Bureau of Facilities for their dedicated work on this extensive renovation project that improves a station so vital to our EMS operations.”

EMS Station 26 provides up to 10 Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support ambulances daily and supports a staff of more than 90 EMTs, Paramedics, and Officers.

The $825,000 renovation was designed to make the facility more energy efficient, including re-insulating and retrofitting the entire building with a 6-zone high efficiency boiler and installing LED lighting throughout. Additional upgrades consist of strengthening the telecommunications and electrical infrastructure to enhance public safety operations, accompanied by the construction of new administrative offices, locker rooms, restrooms, and shower facilities.
