Fire Commissioner Daniel A. Nigro will preside over a ribbon-cutting ceremony for FDNY’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Museum at 325 Pratt Avenue, Fort Totten, Bayside, Queens on Friday, May 18th, 2018 at 2 p.m. The museum will be open to the public for the first time from Monday, May 21st to 25th, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“Remembering history and honoring those who came before us are celebrated traditions of the FDNY,” said Fire Commissioner Nigro. “The rededication of this museum is a testament of our tradition and we look forward to sharing the history and tenacity of our dedicated members.”
Originally established in 1992, the EMS Museum occupies 400 square feet and chronologically displays how FDNY's EMS grew from humble beginnings as the nation’s very first municipal ambulance service to the busiest provider of pre-hospital emergencies – responding to more than 1.4 million calls annually. The museum is curated with antique uniforms, equipment, and highlights those who have dedicated their lives in keeping New Yorkers safe.
