June 10, 2019

FDNY will celebrate the opening of the newly renovated EMS Station 39 with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, June 11, at 11 a.m. at 265 Pennsylvania Avenue. EMS Station 39 serves the Cypress Hills, Brownsville, and East New York neighborhoods of Brooklyn.

“For more than three decades, the men and women of EMS Station 39 have proudly, and bravely, served Brooklyn,” said Fire Commissioner Daniel A. Nigro. “With this modern facility, our members will continue their outstanding work – maintaining the highest level of pre-hospital emergency medical care for the area – while also reducing our impact on the environment and the communities we serve.”

EMS Station 39 will provide up to 10 Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support ambulances daily, and supports a staff of more than 75 EMTS and paramedics, and officers.

The design and construction of the 8,328 square foot facility was completed in three years and was performed in-house by the FDNY Bureau of Facilities at a cost of $11.3 million.

The station was built to be the latest environmentally friendly FDNY facility, it features:

  • a green roof with leak detection
  • solar tube lighting in place of standard light fixtures which will provide a percentage of the station’s lighting
  • radiant floor heating in the ambulance/fly car vehicle area
