FDNY promotes fire officers, swears in chaplains at ceremony on Staten Island

The FDNY promoted fire officers and swore in new chaplains on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at a ceremony at the Ocean Breeze Track and Field Facility on Staten Island.

"It's been almost a year since I started as fire commissioner, and it's been an amazing year—one made great by days like today," FDNY Commissioner Robert S. Tucker said. "I've learned so much from all of you—about the kind of leaders you are in our great city. Fearless leaders, loyal, protective and smart. You are the reason I love this job and why the Department is so great. You are the reason I know our city is safe. There is one unifying factor among all of you: It is a call to service and a desire to do good. So today, I congratulate you on your next steps, and I challenge you to carry your passion to the next generation."

At the promotion ceremony, members of fire operations were promoted to the following ranks: Deputy Chief, Battalion Chief, Supervising Fire Marshal - Level 2, Lieutenant, Marine Assistant Engineer and Marine Wiper.

Additionally, two new FDNY Chaplains were sworn in.

The newly promoted members will be assigned to units across New York City.
