June 2, 2026

The FDNY held a promotion ceremony for members of EMS operations on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, in the Commissioner Robert O. Lowery Auditorium at FDNY Headquarters in Brooklyn.

Members were promoted to the rank Deputy Assistant Chief, Division Chief, Deputy Chief, and Captain.

"A promotion in the FDNY is a celebration of our members' hard work, professionalism and commitment to serving our City," said Fire Commissioner Lillian Bonsignore. "Today's promotions recognize their experience and ability to lead others through some of the most challenging moments imaginable. The work is demanding, and the stakes are high. But this group is ready."

"Leadership is not measured by the rank on your collar, but by the success and achievements of those you have led," Chief of EMS Operations Paul Miano said. "Leadership requires us to support our members, remove their obstacles, make difficult decisions, and create an environment where others can succeed. It is your responsibility to not just maintain what you inherited, but to improve it."

The newly promoted members will be assigned to units throughout New York City.
