FDNY and NYPD kick off 2026 blood drive competition for the New York Blood Center

The FDNY and the NYPD officially kicked off its second annual summer blood drive competition on Friday, June 12, 2026, at FDNY Headquarters in Brooklyn, with the goal of generating awareness of the need for blood during critical summer months. The competition runs through June 30. In 2025, the Bravest won the inaugural competition, attaining a higher participation rate than the Finest. This year, the two agencies hope even more people will be inspired to participate.

Every summer, the New York Blood Center sees a rise in trauma cases and a shortage of blood donations.
