FDNY Commissioner Laura Kavanagh hosts Women’s History Event at Department Headquarters

On March 23, 2024, FDNY Commissioner Laura Kavanagh hosted a Women’s History Event, focused on preparing female candidates for a career with the Department. The event featured discussions with current FDNY female firefighters, calisthenics sessions, forcible entry, hoseline drags, and other activities. The candidates learned firsthand about a career with the FDNY and allowed them to practice the skills Probationary Firefighters in the Fire Academy must master to become firefighters in New York City.
