It was a heartwarming evening on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2024, on the Upper East Side of Manhattan as FDNY members from Engine 44/Ladder 13 joined forces with NYPD officers from the 19th Precinct to bring holiday joy to children and families at Ronald McDonald House New York's "Miracle on 73rd Street" event.

With Santa leading the way, the teams delivered hundreds of gifts to children battling pediatric cancer and other serious illnesses, ensuring they have a holiday season to remember. Santa was even lifted up in the tower ladder to say hi through the windows.

Although it was more of a wet Christmas instead of a white Christmas, smiles were abound.

"The rain can't stop our holiday spirit," said FDNY Commissioner Robert S. Tucker, who donned a Santa hat and spread the cheer. "We lit up the faces of dozens of children and families. Events like this are what make the FDNY the best in the world."

Dubbed the "Miracle on 73rd Street," the annual collaboration between the FDNY, NYPD and Ronald McDonald House New York showcases the power of community and compassion during the holiday season.
