Goal to Install 15,000 Smoke Alarms in One Year
FDNY Commissioner Robert S. Tucker, the FDNY Foundation, and the American Red Cross will announce the relaunch the #GetAlarmedNYC Campaign on Monday, October 6 at 10:00 a.m. at 247 Wadsworth Avenue in Manhattan. The event can be viewed live on the Department's website at www.nyc.gov/FDNY or HERE.
Since August 2025, the American Red Cross, the FDNY and the FDNY Foundation have been installing free smoke alarms in homes across the five boroughs, with the goal of installing 15,000 alarms within one year.
#GetAlarmedNYC was first launched in 2015, spurred by the tragic deaths of seven children in one fire in March of that year. New York City residents will be able to get more information about the program by visiting FDNYSmart.org. The FDNY and American Red Cross will host community events where city residents can schedule installations in their homes.
