The Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY) and the New York City Police Department (NYPD), in partnership with the New York Blood Center (NYBC), will kick off a blood donation competition on Tuesday, June 24 at 11 a.m. in the Fire Commissioner Robert O. Lowery Auditorium at FDNY Headquarters in Brooklyn.
The competition will run from Monday, June 23, 2025 to Sunday, July 20, 2025 at all FDNY and NYPD sponsored blood drives, NYBC donor centers, and other community blood drives. The department with the combined highest results will receive an award from NYBC and all participating donors will be entered into a sweepstakes for a $500 e-gift card.
This partnership aims to generate awareness of the need for blood during the critical summer months. NYBC declared a blood emergency earlier this month.
