FDNY to Hold Graduation Ceremony for FDNY Captain Vernon A. Richard High School for Fire and Life Safety

The FDNY will hold a graduation ceremony for 33 students from the Captain Vernon A. Richard High School for Fire and Life Safety on Wednesday, June 26 at 10 a.m. at the FDNY Training Academy – Field House on Randall's Island. The ceremony can be viewed live on the Department's website at www.nyc.gov/FDNY.

The graduating students have successfully completed a rigorous academic program that emphasizes leadership and strength as core values along with the academic and physical skills necessary for emergency responders. Nine of this year's graduates will begin the FDNY Youth EMS Academy on Monday, July 1st.

The FDNY High School, located at 400 Pennsylvania Avenue in Brooklyn, aims to attract its students to future careers with the FDNY, as Firefighters, Paramedics, or Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs). To date, 101 FDNY Captain Vernon A. Richard High School graduates have been hired by the Department and currently serve as EMTs, Paramedics, and Firefighters.
