Certificate of Approval

A Certificate of Approval (COA) confirms that a product, piece of equipment or system has been reviewed and approved for a specific use in New York City. Manufacturers or their authorized representatives must obtain a COA when required by the New York City Fire Code or Fire Department Rules.

Apply or Renew

Applications for new, amended and renewed Certificates of Approval must be submitted online through FDNY Business.

• Change of ownership: $625
• Change in manufacturing process, chemical composition or design: $625
• Renewal application: $50
• Change of identification: $210
