The FDNY released a new Public Service Announcement (PSA) on Friday, April 24, reminding New Yorkers to always close the door behind them in the event of a fire. Closing the door isolates fire and prevents smoke, heat, and flames from spreading to common areas of a multiple dwelling (like hallways and stairs).

It was a bit of a different vibe at FDNY Headquarters in Brooklyn on Thursday, April 23, 2026, for National Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day.
