Health Bucks are $2 coupons that can be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at all NYC farmers markets.
There are more than 130 farmers markets across the five boroughs every summer and fall. For farmers market locations and days/hours of operation, see the Farmers Market Map 2023 (PDF, also in Español | 简体中文) or visit the NYC Health Map.
Many farmers markets host nutrition-related activities, such as food activities for kids, cooking demonstrations and adult nutrition workshops. If your group wants to schedule an NYC Health Department-run nutrition workshop, email nutritioneducation@health.nyc.gov.
For every $2 spent at farmers markets using SNAP on an EBT card, you can get $2 in Health Bucks, up to $10 per day. Health Bucks are available year-round at NYC farmers markets that accept EBT.
Organizations can apply to receive free Health Bucks to distribute to community members as an incentive to participate in nutrition education and other health-related activities.
The 2023 Application for Free Health Bucks is now closed. Note, these Health Bucks were limited and available on a first-come, first served basis. For next year’s application, check back here in Spring 2024.
If your organization would like to purchase Health Bucks coupons, email farmersmarkets@health.nyc.gov for more information.
