Undergraduate Scholarship Opportunities

Under the Mayor’s Scholarship Program (MSP), undergraduate scholarship opportunities are available for full-time New York City government employees. These scholarships provide eligible employees with the opportunity to pursue an associate or bachelor’s degree at participating colleges and universities while remaining employed by the city.

The Fall 2026 application period is now open. Applications must be submitted by April 27, 2026. Please note that some agencies may establish an earlier internal deadline.

Applicants should confirm submission requirements with their Agency Personnel Office.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the undergraduate scholarships, applicants must:

  • Be a full-time New York City government employee
  • Have completed a high school diploma or equivalent by the start of the scholarship year
  • Remain a full-time NYC government employee throughout the course of study
  • Remain a student in good standing
  • Attend classes on their own time

There is no minimum length of employment required to apply. Awardees are not required to remain in city service after completing the program.
