New York State's Freedom of Information Law (Public Officers Law §§84-90), commonly known as FOIL, allows members of the public to access records maintained by governmental agencies.
FOIL requests must be made in writing. When making your FOIL request for records, please be as specific as possible so that the CCRB can properly identify records that are responsive to your request.
Online: You can submit your FOIL request by completing the "Request a Record" form at Open Records. Select the Civilian Complaint Review Board from the Agency dropdown menu.

FOIL Appeal Procedures: Any person denied access to a record may appeal within thirty (30) days by writing a letter requesting an appeal to:
