Yes, Property Tax Abatement Information can now be provided as part of the respective Job Filing for Electric Energy Storage Equipment, Green Roof, and Solar work types. DOB NOW will automatically send Tax Abatement information (if provided as part of the Job Filing) to the Department of Finance (DOF) from Applicants who file these three types of jobs. The Tax Abatement information will be sent to DOF after the Letter of Completion (LOC) is issued.

Yes, requests for a New York State Green Roof Property Tax Abatement are submitted in DOB NOW: Build. A new question was added on the Plans/Work (PW1), “Are you filing property tax abatement information with this filing?” If the applicant answers Yes, the Tax Abatement tab will appear on the filing.

To request a tax abatement for a Green Roof filing that was approved or permitted before the Tax Abatement was launched in DOB NOW, submit a Post Approval Amendment (PAA) and a PTA3 paper form as an Additional Supporting Document. The Tax Abatement information will be sent to the Department of Finance (DOF) after the Letter of Completion (LOC) is issued. Permit applications for Solar and EESE filings cannot be submitted unless on the associated Electrical filing (entered in the Related DOB NOW/BIS Job Number field) one of the below is selected as the Sustainable Type on the associated Electrical filing:

Solar Filings

• Photo Voltaic (with storage system)
• Photo Voltaic (with no storage system)

EESE Filings

• Photo Voltaic (with storage system)
• Windmill (with storage system)
• Mini Turbine (with storage system)
• Energy Storage Systems and Components

If the associated Electrical permit was issued before November 9, 2024, the Solar or EESE permit can be submitted if the Sustainable Type on the associated Electrical filing is Photo Voltaic.
