The Registry is a collaborative effort between the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and New York City. The lists below include collaborations between past and present advisory groups. government agencies, and scientific advisors and collaborators:

Advisory Groups

Originally, there were three advisory groups — the Community Advisory Board, the Labor Advisory Board and the Scientific Advisory Board - that met regularly with Registry staff to provide input on survey development, outreach, in-depth studies and other research projects. After the creation of the WTC Health Program at NIOSH with its Survivor Steering Committee (SSC) and Responder Steering Committees (RSC) in 2011-12, there was no longer a need for regular meetings with Registry community and labor advisory committees. The SSC and RSC include Registry community and labor advisors respectively. The Registry’s Public Affairs Liaison attends the monthly SSC meetings and the Registry Director and/or Medical Director attend the monthly RSC meetings. The Registry continues to meet with scientific, labor and community advisors and the Manhattan Community Board as needed, for example, to get input on the content of Registry surveys and assistance with outreach to boost response rates.

WTC Health Program Centers of Excellence Collaborators

The Registry has had collaborations the WTC Health Program Centers of Excellence over time. For example, the Registry is collaborating with FDNY, the General Responder Cohort (GRC) at Mount Sinai to conduct follow up on a combined cohort of rescue/recovery workers. With help from the NYSCR, the three cohorts of responders – from FDNY, GRC and the WTCHR - were combined into a final de-duplicated dataset with 69,102 rescue/recovery workers for use in the joint cancer study and the joint mortality project funded by NIOSH. The Registry also has had research collaborations with the Health + Hospital’s WTC Environmental Health Center at Bellevue Hospital Center.
