Community Advisory Board

The Queens Hospital Center Community Advisory Board (CAB) serves as a critical link between the hospital and its surrounding communities.  Comprised of community planning board members, community representatives and consumers of the hospital, CAB members meet regularly to ensure that Queens Hospital Center provides the best possible medical care to the community.  In their role as advisors, they represent the views of the community in the decision-making process and provide vital perspectives on the development of plans and programs designed to meet the needs of the community.  Outside of QHC, the Community Advisory Board keeps the community informed of the hospital’s goals, objectives and programs.

At the pleasure of the President of the Health and Hospitals Corporation, Queens Hospital Center CAB members can be appointed by either the Executive Director, the Queens Borough President, Community Planning Boards in our catchment area or by submitting an individual membership application directly to the CAB.  Currently, 35 members may serve on the CAB at any given time and all CAB members are asked to serve on at least two subcommittees.  The subcommittees of the CAB are Patient Care, Community Relations, Membership/Orientation, By Laws, Budget/Finance, Parliamentarian and Newsletter.  CAB members serve a term of three years and are permitted to serve three consecutive terms.

The Community Advisory Board generally meets monthly on the fourth Wednesday of the month except in July and August.   Each meeting highlights one of the many Queens Hospital Center departments and/or services followed by a question and answer session.  Members are encouraged to solicit feedback from the community so they may in turn, bring that information back to the hospital.  Whenever possible, that feedback will be used to enhance the patient experience at QHC.  The role of the Community Advisory Board is a very important one.

The Chairperson of the Queens Hospital Center CAB is Ms. Jacqueline Boyce.
