The Sexual Assault Response Treatment Program

The Sexual Assault Response Treatment Program is an integral part of NCBH's Emergency Department.

NCBH's Sexual Assault Treatment Program (SART), which celebrated its 6th anniversary in 2010, was the first in New York State to be designated as a "Center of Excellence" by the NYS Department of Health.

Utilizing a multi-disciplinary approach, the SART includes emergency room physicians, forensic nurses and social workers who have been specifically trained in treating victims of sexual assault and rape.  SARTs combine medicine, law enforcement and victim advocacy to ensure that sexual assault victims receive appropriate medical attention, evidentiary examinations, emotional support and referral information. The Bronx SART Programs are located at NCBH, Jacobi Medical Center and Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center.
