About LL84

LL84 requires annual benchmarking data to be submitted by owners of buildings with more than 50,000 square feet for public disclosure by May 1. This will bring transparency for energy and water usage and inform building owners and tenants on how to make their buildings more efficient.

Benchmarking Rule
The New York City Department of Buildings (DOB) has published a Rule to provide details on how to benchmark to comply with Local Law 84 (LL84). To read the Benchmarking Rule, download Final Benchmarking Rule (in PDF). A public hearing occurred on March 21, 2011, at 10:30 am, at 280 Broadway Ave., 6th Floor. The public comment period is now closed. Benchmarking completed prior to issuance of the final rule but in accordance with the law will be deemed in compliance.
