Career & Financial Management Curriculum Development

The Career & Financial Management Curriculum Framework is a tool that provides guidance and resources to Career & Technical Education educators delivering the Career & Financial Management course. The New York State CDOS standards and Career Readiness Practices from the Common Career Technical Core (CCTC) are identified in each unit. Additional academic standards may also be addressed.

This CFM Resource Guide is intended to be used in conjunction with the CFM Curriculum Framework. It provides a deeper level of support for implementing the Curriculum Framework by identifying lesson plans, videos, and other learning experiences linked to each unit. The purpose is to provide teachers with a variety of resources for the planning, delivery, and assessment of Career and Financial Management.

CareerReady NYC Career Readiness Framework

The CareerReady NYC Career Readiness Framework outlines key milestones young people in attaining career success. Created by a team of practitioners, analysts, and educators, the Framework maps out developmentally appropriate activities for youth that help them build the foundation for career success. It explicitly links education, career exploration, and work experience in mutually reinforcing ways, and supports acquisition of both general employability skills and specific technical skills.

Work It, NYC: A Guide to LGBTQI+ Workplace Inclusivity Manual

The Work It, NYC manual exists because many LGBTQI+ people face distinct barriers to meaningful employment opportunities, and therefore, workforce practitioners should be prepared with relevant knowledge to help LGBTQI+ participants succeed in the job market. The barriers LGBTQI+ people face are often a direct result of stigma, discrimination, and violence experienced in work and educational settings. With awareness, preparation, and strategic interventions targeted to LGBTQI+ peoples' unique needs, workforce providers can deliver the resources and services needed to support LGBTQI+ people. SecureOurFutureNYC: Increasing Opportunities for New York City's Disconnected Youth Report

As part of the Disconnected Youth Task Force, the Mayor's Office of Youth Employment, Young Men's Initiative, and Department of Youth & Community Development partnered with the Young Invincibles to launch a cohort of eight fellows to take part in the Mayoral Fellowship in Policy & Advocacy. Fellows participated in a project-based learning work experience in which they learned policy and advocacy skills and surveyed near peers to better understand the challenges they are facing. The fellowship culminated in a report with key recommendations for the City to work towards to build an equitable future for all young New Yorkers.
