TV/Film

Made in NY Marketing Credit

This program offers qualified film and television productions with free co-branded advertising opportunities in the #1 media market in the country. "Made in NY" productions are projects where at least 75% of the film was produced in New York City.

NYC Women's Fund for Media, Music and Theatre

Our groundbreaking $7.5 million program provides funds to complete projects by, for, or about all who identify as women. The New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) is administering the fund.

NYC Film Green

As the first sustainability program for the film and television industry in the United States administered by a government agency, NYC Film Green is a voluntary program that enables productions engaging in environmentally-conscious practices to apply for and receive recognition for their efforts.

New York City Public School Film Festival

The New York City Public School Film Festival was created to provide an opportunity for students to have their work recognized and consider careers in filmmaking.

MOME Finance Lab

This program provides filmmakers with projects by, for or about women the opportunity to sharpen their pitching skills and meet film financiers. Women-identified filmmakers have the opportunity to deliver pitches for their projects to the industry's leading financial backers.

Women's Screenwriting Contest

In 2017, we partnered with Brooklyn College's Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema to launch a citywide screenwriting competition which called for stories by, for, or about women in New York City. The contest was aimed at addressing the underrepresentation of women in the film and television industries both on and off the camera, and was part of an ambitious five-part women's initiative announced in the fall of 2016.

One Film, One New York

Crooklyn, director Spike Lee's ode to brownstone Brooklyn, was named the winner of the first-ever city-wide campaign to unite New Yorkers around one great film. On September 13, 2017, New Yorkers came out across all five boroughs to watch Crooklyn together in public parks and independent movie theaters.

Live Performance Industry Council

Created to develop strategies to drive inclusive growth in the sector, support the city’s creative economy, and ensure the industry recovers beyond pre-COVID-19 pandemic levels

GalaPro Partnership

MOME is partnering with GalaPro, a first-of-its-kind mobile app, to revolutionize the theatre-going experience, particularly for the deaf, hard of hearing, low vision, and blind communities. To foster greater access to theatrical performances for all New Yorkers, MOME will be providing up to $100,000 to cover the cost of installing GalaPro software in qualifying off-Broadway, not-for-profit, and independent theatres throughout New York City.

Broadway in the Boros

This popular series brings free performances of hit Broadway musicals to neighborhoods throughout New York City. In its fourth season, cast members and musicians from Hadestown, Mean Girls, The Prom, Be More Chill, Wicked, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Beetlejuice and Chicago will perform in Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx, and Staten Island this summer.

Off Broadway in the Boros

This free series presents musical theatre and site-specific works throughout the year. Like Off Broadway itself, these productions range in styles; performances might incorporate spoken word art, live musical accompaniment, interactive elements, and audience participation.


Music

NY Music Month

Every June is New York Music Month, the official New York City celebration of the most diverse music scene in the world. In partnership with NY is Music, we present events across all five boroughs, including free concerts, workshops, walking tours, and resources for musicians, industry professionals, students, and music fans.

Music Heals / Music for the Soul

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment and the musician’s union AFM Local 802, have launched two programs together. Music for the Soul and Music Heals offer paid gigs to musicians and the chance to entertain, inspire and thank, the hardworking people on the front lines battling COVID, and their patients.

BerkleeNYC

With funds from MOME and the Economic Development Corporation, BerkleeNYC was born by preserving and modernizing the historic Power Station Studios, the last recording studio in New York able to accommodate a full orchestra or live Broadway cast album recording.This facility also allows Berklee to expand its vision of nurturing the world's most promising musicians while engaging in meaningful community outreach.


Digital Media

Virtual and Augmented Reality Lab

RLab is the first publicly-funded virtual reality and augmented reality (VR/AR) lab in the country that supports growing VR/AR companies and entrepreneurs, an convenes cross-sector stakeholders and members of the academic community.


Publishing

One Book, One New York

The citywide reading program engages New Yorkers to vote among five books for the one that they all want to read together. Past winners include Jennifer Egan's "Manhattan Beach" and "Americanah" by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.
