DFTA Recovery Meals Senior Outreach
PEU partnered with the Department for the Aging (DFTA) to ensure that those receiving Recovery Meals during the pandemic were able to get the support they needed after the program ended. Recovery Meals was a temporary meal delivery service for older adults living in NYC during the pandemic. Before the program came to an end, PEU's Special Projects Team oversaw calls to numerous clients to inform them that the program was coming to an end and connect them to other resources if they wanted additional support.
Welcoming New Arrivals
PEU staff have been working tirelessly for several months to greet asylum seekers as they arrive in unprecedented numbers in NYC. We are proud to work alongside our partners at MOIA and CAU, and others to ensure that those who arrive in NYC are both welcomed and supported. Team members have been conducting intakes, directing people to shelters and coordinating their transportation, helping with food and clothing distribution, connecting them to various City services, and much more. Hurricane Ida Recovery
In the months following Hurricane Ida, SPT helped lead in-person and phone outreach to homeowners throughout the City whose homes were impacted by the flood. The team made sure each severely impacted homeowner had access to resources they were eligible for so that they could get the recovery assistance they needed.

Bronx Fire Recovery
The Special Projects Team conducted outreach with the 160 families impacted by the fire at the Twin Park Tower in January 2022 who were living in hotels during months following the fire. The team called each family to ensure that those observing Ramadan got culturally appropriate meal deliveries and reached out to clients who needed assistance in languages other than English. PEU also worked with Bronxworks, a community-based organization in the Bronx, to design a report for City Hall with updated information about these clients and how to support their longer term case management needs.
