Notice Regarding Emergency Applications

In order to provide the City with sufficient advance notice to appear and contest a TRO request in New York Supreme Court consistent with CPLR 6313(a) and 22 NYCRR 202.8(e), notice[s] of any request[s] for a TRO and all papers upon which that request is based must be received by the Law Department no less than 24 hours before it is first presented to the Court.

Due to their urgent nature, TRO and emergency applications cannot be served using the Law Department’s serveECF@law.nyc.gov e-mail.  While counsel are encouraged to copy that e-mail address on their electronic service of papers, the Law Department does not consent to service of emergency applications through that e-mail address.

Emergency Applications should be sent via e-mail to the assigned Assistant Corporation Counsel along with the below individuals.  If a case is new and/or there are no Assistant Corporation Counsels assigned, the email should be directed to the below contacts for the Division which you reasonably believe will be handling the matter.  Descriptions of what each Division does are available here.   If you do not believe your application should not be directed to any of the above Divisions or you have a question about which Division to direct your notice to, please e-mail First Assistant Corporation Counsel Sheryl Neufeld at sneufeld@law.nyc.gov and Managing Attorney Eric Eichenholtz at eeichenh@law.nyc.gov.
