Grand Concourse Library and Affordable Housing RFP

Grand Concourse Library and Affordable Housing RFP

What Are We Planning for the Grand Concourse Library?

The NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) and The New York Public Library (NYPL) are planning for the redevelopment of the Grand Concourse Library, with a new state-of-the-art library and affordable housing on top.

The existing library, which is owned by the City, was built in 1959 and has served the surrounding community for 65 years. The redevelopment of the site will be initiated through a competitive process called a Request for Proposals (RFP) that asks developers to respond to a set of goals and guidelines that reflect community priorities.

Scroll down to read more about community engagement and how to provide your input! The RFP and public approval process can take several years to complete; there will be multiple opportunities for the public to share their feedback before construction begins. The branch will remain open to serve the public until construction begins.
