Notice on the novel coronavirus (COVID-19)

March 3, 2020

As you are aware, New York City is currently responding to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). We want to make sure our partners and the New Yorkers we serve are provided with the most up-to-date information.

At this time, it is important to listen to facts and not respond to fear. To that end, we are sharing a fact sheet with critical information about the virus provided by the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH). Please review this document for your own awareness and to answer any questions you may receive from those you serve.

The City has also created a one-page flyer with three essential tips New Yorkers need to know about the coronavirus. We encourage you to print and post these flyers at the entrances and elevator banks of your buildings, and to have on hand for concerned New Yorkers.

All New Yorkers should continue to practice general flu prevention measures including:

  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue or sleeve.
  • Wash your hands regularly.
  • Avoid touching your face.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Get your flu shot – it’s never too late.
  • Know the symptoms: fever, cough, and shortness of breath.
  • Stay home if you’re feeling sick. Call your doctor and let them know your symptoms and travel history.
  • Avoid nonessential travel to affected areas.
