Your search results at www.nyc.gov/mysummons will show which judgments are eligible.

It is not eligible for the ECB Amnesty and Compliance Program. However, a default judgment entered after that date may be eligible for the OATH-Adjudicated ECB Violations Settlement Program.

Yes. A person or business may pay an eligible judgment even if they are not named on the judgment.

No. You may choose which eligible judgments to pay.

No. Each judgment that you select for the amnesty program must be paid in full with a single payment. You may, however, pay your amnesty-eligible judgments in separate transactions before the program deadline. Any violations not paid in full by the end of the amnesty period will revert back to the full amount.

If you paid a judgment in full before the ECB Amnesty and Compliance Program began, you cannot receive a refund or a retroactive discount.

If you made only a partial payment, the remaining balance may still qualify for the program. Search for the judgment at www.nyc.gov/mysummons to see whether it is eligible and how much you must pay.

You must make a $1 payment when you have previously made partial payments that equal or exceed:

  • The base penalty for a default judgment; or
  • 75% of the imposed fine for a judgment issued after a hearing.

To resolve the judgment, select it at www.nyc.gov/mysummons and pay the $1 fee.

Some judgments require both payment and corrective action. These judgments can be paid through the ECB Amnesty and Compliance Program only if the issuing agency approves the correction and the Department of Finance receives electronic confirmation before the end of the program period.

Contact the agency that issued the violation for instructions on correcting it and obtaining a Certificate of Correction.

Department of Buildings (DOB):

Please note that default Department of Buildings judgments that have received a DOB credit may be eligible for the amnesty program.

New York City Fire Department (FDNY):

The procedure for certifying correction requires the submission of a notarized Certificate of Correction, accompanied by supporting proof of compliance, through the FDNY online portal.

You can email FDNY.BusinessSupport@fdny.nyc.gov to ask about the status of your submission. Visit the Correcting and Responding to Violations webpage for more information.

Landmarks Preservation Commission:

Department of Environmental Protection (DEP):

To ask whether the Department of Finance has received confirmation of correction, please contact us via www.nyc.gov/contacteservices.

You can pay using an e-check. If you are a corporation making an electronic check (e-Check) or Automated Clearing House (ACH) payment, please contact your banking institution to provide them with the appropriate ACH company ID (A136400434) and name (NYC ECB FINES) to allow for the removal of any ACH debit block which may affect the processing of your payment so that the payment is not rejected.

If your payment is returned unpaid by your bank, the Department of Finance may send you a bill for the amount due, which may include additional charges, such as penalties and interest.

If your payment cannot be processed by your bank for any reason, the Department of Finance may, but is not required to, bill you for the unpaid amount, including any applicable penalties and interest. An unsuccessful payment will not resolve the judgment under the ECB Amnesty and Compliance Program.

You may receive a letter if your payment fails. After a failed payment, there may be a period during which you cannot make another payment. After this period, the judgment will be eligible for the ECB Amnesty and Compliance Program again, provided that the program is still active.

Paying a judgment resulting from a default decision is considered an admission of liability.

By participating, you also give up the right to challenge the paid judgment or the amount due. This includes seeking to vacate a default judgment or claiming that you did not receive notice of the violation.
