FDNY releases new PSA about Text-to-911 services on International Day of the Deaf

September 29, 2024

On 2024 International Day of the Deaf, the FDNY released a new Public Service Announcement (PSA) about Text-to-911 services.

Text-to-911 is a reliable and safe way to contact emergency services throughout New York City's five boroughs.

"The FDNY reaffirms our commitment to ensuring equal access to emergency services for all New Yorkers," Fire Commissioner Robert S. Tucker said. "The Text-to-911 service is a vital resource for the deaf and hard-of-hearing community. The FDNY is prepared to respond to all calls and remains dedicated to serving our city with the highest level of care and professionalism."

International Day of the Deaf is celebrated annually on the final Sunday of September and ends International Week of the Deaf. It's designed to bring a greater understanding of the deaf and hard-of-hearing community, as well as its culture and heritage.
