FDNY releases new PSA after another deadly fire caused by a lithium-ion battery

October 25, 2024

FDNY fire marshals have determined the cause of a deadly fire on Oct. 24 in the Bronx was a lithium-ion battery, killing one person.

The FDNY has released a new Public Service Announcement (PSA), reminding New Yorkers to charge lithium-ion batteries outside wherever possible.

"As I have said before, one death is too many. The FDNY will not stop until that number is zero," FDNY Commissioner Robert S. Tucker said.

The Department's PSA program is made possible with generous funding from the FDNY Foundation, the FDNY's official not-for-profit organization.
