Dispute a Corrective Action Request
We issue a Corrective Action Request (CAR) for certain first-time violations. A CAR is an official notice informing you that you are in violation of certain conditions.
When you receive a CAR notice, you have 30 days to correct the condition. If it is not corrected after 30 days, or if we observe another violation, you will be subject to a fine.
If you believe you were not in violation and should not have received a CAR notice, you can protest it. You must submit your CAR protest within 14 days of the date on which it was served.
The CAR program was authorized by Local Law 80 of 2021 and pertains to violations involving:
- Commercial waste
- Failure to separate leaf and yard waste from trash
- Publicly accessible collection bins
