DOC launches Correction Officer recruitment campaign for the
“Toughest and Most Rewarding Career in Law Enforcement”
Multimedia advertising campaign for the upcoming Correction Officer civil service exam spreads the word across the city
East Elmhurst, NY –The New York City Department of Correction this week launched an extensive marketing campaign to encourage prospective applicants to take the first step to towards a career as a Correctional Officer by registering for the next exam in an open registration window running from May 3rd – May 23rd.
“Serving as a New York City Correction Officer is truly the toughest and most rewarding career in law enforcement, and this campaign seeks to encourage the boldest New Yorkers to be the next generation of Correction Officers by registering for the upcoming exam,” said DOC Commissioner Louis A. Molina. “Correction officers must embody strength, bravery, humanity, and integrity. We know that there are many women and men in our city who fit this description, and we encourage them to take the first step to a rewarding career by registering for the exam by May 23rd.”
The advertising campaign features a wide variety of communication to prospective candidates about this exciting career opportunity – including messages from DOC Commissioner Louis Molina to New Yorkers utilizing 311, social media, and videos on taxi, ferry and gas station pump screens throughout the city.
Advertising spots, with the tagline the “toughest and most rewarding career in law enforcement” are also appearing on television and radio, as well as via e-blast lists, fliers in public libraries in all five boroughs and NYCHA developments, bus interior cards, social media and ethnic print media.
Marketing includes:
New York City Department of Correction Officers earn $92,073 after 5 and ½ years of service, full benefits, and a pension upon retirement.
For the first time in years, college credits for Correction Officers candidates are now optional.
