Non-Secure Placement Searches of Facility Spaces
The purpose of this policy is to provide guidelines and procedures for Non-Secure Placement (NSP) provider agencies to follow with respect to searches of facility spaces. Facility search practices are intended to maintain contraband-free programs and to protect the safety of youth and staff in the NSP facility, the community, and others who may be present, within a context that respects and promotes dignity and healthy relationships with youth. It applies to both the use of mechanical restraints on youth displaying acute physical behavior that present a serious and evident danger to self or others and for off-site vehicular transport. Room isolation in Limited Secure Juvenile Justice Placement
This policy provides clear instructions for Limited Secure Placement (LSP) providers to follow when considering the use of room isolation to calm and contain the acute physical behavior of a youth, and requirements for how such isolation must be conducted. This and all other emergency interventions must be conducted with a clear understanding that they are occurring in a programmatic setting designed to promote healthy relationships with youth.
