nyc.gov is getting easier for everyone

Posted August 18, 2025

New Yorkers can find what they need faster and more easily on the new nyc.gov.

Here are some of the ways the nyc.gov team improved the site:

New Yorker-centered

We tested the site with actual New Yorkers. The design is based on feedback from hundreds of residents with different backgrounds and abilities. The site also features new photos taken by NYC employees.

Data-driven

We identified the actions and info New Yorkers look for the most. Then we put these actions front and center on the site.

Accessible

We prioritized accessibility for New Yorkers with disabilities. Every component now meets WCAG 2.2 guidelines.

More findable

The new nyc.gov search includes higher-quality results from more sources. It will learn and improve as New Yorkers use it to find what they’re looking for.
