Application Process


Where to Get Materials:
Applications and informational brochures are available in person at any law library or program area inside of a NYC Department of Correction jail. They can also be accessed here via the following links:

 

Applicants are required to provide:

  • Personal information
  • Proposed residence upon release
  • Educational background
  • Family and community connections
  • Employment history
  • Jail records, including program participation and infractions
  • A personal statement 
  • Signed release of information authorizations

Submission & Review:
Complete and accurate applications must be submitted to the Conditional Release Commission (CRC) by mail or at any CRC drop box within a jail. An individual must serve a minimum of 60 days before applying. The CRC will issue a decision within 30 days of receiving the application.
