OCME is home to the nation's largest forensic pathology fellowship program. Since 1990, the program has trained over 100 board-certified forensic pathologists, including current and former chief medical examiners in more than 20 jurisdictions throughout the country.
The year-long program immerses fellows in the dynamic educational environment of New York City. Fellows work under the guidance of senior medical examiners who comprise the Department of Forensic Medicine at the NYU School of Medicine. Fellows join a thriving community of learning in forensic science, with opportunities for innovative research, court testimony, and access to world-class resources including OCME's laboratories and departments of forensic anthropology and emergency management. Advanced training in neuropathology and cardiopathology is also available through fellowships.
Applicants must have a Doctor of Medicine degree (M.D./D.O.), and have completed residency training in anatomic pathology or combined clinical/anatomic pathology in an ACGME-accredited program before the start of the fellowship. For inquiries about the program, please email nizquierdo@ocme.nyc.gov
