Health Insurance Options
Medicare: Most people who are 65 and older can get free Medicare Part A Hospital Insurance, which covers hospital visits. If you don't qualify for free Medicare Part A, you can purchase private insurance. Visit the NY State of Health Marketplace. Financial help is available.
Free or Low-Cost Insurance: If you have a low income, you may be eligible for help to pay for medical costs.
Get free or low cost health insurance under Medicaid. You can have Medicare and Medicaid at the same time. Learn more about Medicaid.
Managed Long Term Care Plans (MLTC): Plans that cover long term services for people who are chronically ill or disabled and wish to stay in their homes or communities.
Private/Qualified Health Plans: You can purchase insurance directly from an insurance company. You can apply on the NY State of Health if you don't qualify for Medicare or if you are a parent/caretaker relative of a minor.
Insurance through Your Job: You may be able to get insurance through your employer.
