NYCHA TO PROVIDE WORK ORDER REPAIRS FOR PUBLIC HOUSING RESIDENTS IN SATURDAY BLITZ

As part of NYCHA’s successful Saturday work order blitz initiative, the Authority will be out across the City again on Saturday to tackle open maintenance work orders, annual recertifications for residents.

NEW YORK – Today, as part of its ongoing Saturday blitz effort, the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) will have maintenance and property management staff available to quickly perform repairs and effectively engage and assist public housing residents across the City.

“Our hardworking and dedicated staff have completed 5,100 work order repairs and 930 annual recertifications as part of our successful Saturday work blitz initiative. While this is a step in the right direction, the Authority is not taking a break and will be out across the City again this weekend,” said NYCHA General Manager Vito Mustaciuolo.

While NYCHA developments have limited staffing during weekends, staff will address the maintenance work order backlog at Van Dyke and Red Hook East Houses in Brooklyn, Throggs Neck Houses in the Bronx, Ravenswood Houses in Queens, and Chelsea and Elliott Houses in Manhattan.

Regular and extra staff will be on site from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 9. Also, Housing Assistants will be available at the respective management offices to help residents with their annual income recertifications.

Efforts like the Saturday blitz initiative and the expansion of NYCHA Cares – a $20 million initiative funded by the de Blasio administration to tackle the skilled trades backlogs – make up major components of NYCHA 2.0, a plan to ensure quality affordable housing for all NYCHA residents.

These work orders do not include emergency health and safety repairs, which are addressed immediately by the Authority.
