Disability Etiquette and Awareness Training

The Disability Etiquette and Awareness Training begins with a brief overview of disability justice, preferred language, and best practices when interacting with people with disabilities. This is followed by more focused overviews of specific disability types including, mobility, blind/low-vision, Deaf/hard-of-hearing, and more. All of the presenters are employees of NYC Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities and have lived experience as a person with a disability. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions in a safe space with the opportunity for open discussion.

All trainings are upon request. We offer virtual trainings on Thursdays from 10 AM to 11:30 AM. In-person and hybrid trainings are also available as schedules permit. Use the form below to make your request.
