NYC Media, the Broadcast Network for the City of New York, To Offer New English and Spanish Language TV Programming

Partnership with Deutsche Welle Brings New International Content to NYC World Channel 73

New York – January 30, 2024 – NYC Media, the official broadcast network and production group for the City of New York and part of the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment, is proud to announce a partnership with international news organization Deutsche Welle (DW) to provide New Yorkers with 44 new television programs in both English and Spanish on the NYC World Channel (Channel 73 and other cable carriers). The new content, a combination of straight news analysis, features, specials and original information programs from around the world, will include 63 hours of English language programming (8am-5pm) and 49 hours of Spanish language programming (5pm-midnight), weekly. Branded in 2010, NYC World is part of the NYC Media network suite of channels which includes: NYC Life, NYC GOV and NYC Drive. A total of 22 new English language programs and 22 new Spanish language programs have been added weekly to NYC World’s programming, including:

IN ENGLISH

  • DW News - News bulletins on the hour, every hour. DW News goes deep beneath the surface, providing the key stories from Europe and around the world.
  • The Day - Background and analysis to understand the top stories of the last 24 hours.

IN SPANISH

  • Eco Latinoamérica (The Environment Magazine) - Presents best practice projects from Latin America that aim to protect and preserve the environment and biodiversity.
  • DW Noticias (News) - Detailed explanations, expert analysis, full coverage from the worlds of politics, business, sports and culture. Fascinating insights beyond the headlines.
  • Fuerza Latina (Inspired Women from Latin America) - Meet women from Latin America who change the world with their innovative ideas; extraordinary people with exciting stories to tell.

“This new content on the NYC World Channel exemplifies NYC Media’s mission to keep New Yorkers entertained and educated around the clock,” said Pat Swinney Kaufman, Commissioner of the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment. “The new English and Spanish language programming complement the wide variety of content currently airing on NYC’s broadcast network, a network that will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2024.”
