NEW YORK EMMYS

NEW YORK — NYC Media, the official broadcast network and media production entity of the City of New York, is pleased to announce two original shows, Blueprint: New York City and Bare Feet in NYC with Mickela Mallozzi, won 2018 Emmy® Awards at the 61st Annual New York Emmy® Awards on Saturday, April 14 at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square. Blueprint: New York City won the Best Documentary award for its episode on the New York City Municipal Building, while the On-Camera Talent: Performer/Narrator award went to Bare Feet in NYC and host Mickela Mallozzi. Both shows appear on NYC Life, the flagship channel of NYC Media, a division of the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment.

"Congratulations to our hardworking production team at NYC Media on these two exciting awards," said Media and Entertainment Commissioner Julie Menin. "This honor reflects NYC Media's commitment to providing New Yorkers with high-quality, informative content that highlights our city's diverse communities, cultures, and history. I encourage all New Yorkers to tune in to Channel 25 and experience the wide range of engaging original programming that we offer."

"Both of these shows are a great example of the programming NYC Media creates to help build public awareness about all of the phenomenal things that New York City has to offer," said NYC Media General Manager and Executive Producer Janet Choi. "We are deeply honored to be acknowledged for this work by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, and are more committed than ever before to continue to provide New Yorkers with quality programming."

Blueprint: New York City received the Best Documentary Emmy® for its episode, "Manhattan Municipal Building." The Manhattan Municipal Building is one of New York's first skyscrapers – an architectural marvel, and a challenge to build. It is an impressive building that not many people know about. Blueprint digs into the history of its construction and the turn-of-the-century innovations that made this unique structure possible.

Bare Feet in NYC features multiple Emmy®-award winning host Mickela Mallozzi as she discovers the dance and music traditions of local New Yorkers in the city's ethnic neighborhoods. Recent episodes have highlighted dance styles from Jewish, Bolivian, Haitian, and Nuyorican communities. This series won an Emmy® in 2017 for Best Entertainment Program.

These two shows, along with a wide variety of NYC Life content, are available to view on demand at NYC.gov/media.
