There are housing benefits available in NYC to help older New Yorkers and New Yorkers with disabilities save money and live securely in their homes. The NYC Public Engagement Unit (PEU) provides free, one-on-one assistance to New Yorkers looking to enroll in these money-saving programs.

Tax Breaks for Homeowners: There are property tax breaks available for New Yorkers with disabilities or over age 65! You may be eligible for NYC property tax breaks if you have an annual household income of $58,399 or less. Apply sooner rather than later! Learn more about homeowner tax exemptions here.
Rent Freeze for Renters: Eligible New Yorkers with disabilities or over age 62 can stop their rent from increasing with New York City's Rent Freeze program. If you have an annual household income of $50,000 or less, pay more than 1/3 of your income on rent, and live in a rent-regulated apartment, you may qualify for rent freeze.
