Volunteer

Volunteers support MOIA's mission to promote the well-being of immigrant communities. Volunteer activities include providing general support at outreach events, distributing information about MOIA and city services, assisting with IDNYC appointments, and providing interpretation if needed.

MOIA volunteers serve a variety of MOIA initiatives including:

IDNYC: The free identification card for all New York City residents providing the opportunity to show who we are—New Yorkers
Outreach to Immigrant New Yorkers: Volunteers will be trained to join our dedicated Outreach staff in the field, informing constituents about their rights, helping them access free city services, assisting with IDNYC appointments, and connecting them with appropriate city agencies or organizations
Special Event and Rapid Response Campaigns: During these uncertain times, our volunteers assist at immediate response forums, town halls, or actions and share information with communities about resources and rights for all New Yorkers, regardless of immigration status. Special Event Volunteers also participate in public events organized by MOIA, such as Lunar New Year celebrations.

Whether you are a student, artist, teacher, engineer or lawyer, you can give back to your City and neighbors. Please note: We only offer opportunities for volunteers 18 and older.

Volunteer onboarding process:

If you are interested in becoming a MOIA Volunteer, please fill out the form below. This form is the first step in the onboarding process.
Once you've filled out the form, please keep an eye on your email for information about the next virtual training.
After attending a training and submitting the required materials, you will be fully onboarded as a MOIA Volunteer.
